Ford partners with Michigan Science Center for interactive AV experience

Ford Motor Company has partnered with the Michigan Science Center (MiSci) to educate the community on the future of transportation, creating MiSci’s first AV exhibit. Built by Ford engineers and developers working closely with MiSci, the installation resembles a vehicle of the future that guests can engage with and explore inside to learn about AVs through interactive displays and a simulation. The exhibit shows how AVs operate and make decisions without a human driver, using data that is collected through 3D maps, cameras, sensors... [Lire la suite]

Human Factors in Automated Driving

Human Factors in Automated Driving   Automated driving will fundamentally change road transportation. But the role of humans and human-system interaction need to be clearly established to ensure a smooth ride. Automated driving technology has the potential to fundamentally change road transportation and improve quality of life. If set on the right track, automated vehicles (AVs) could reduce accidents caused by human errors, increase traffic flow efficiency, increase comfort by allowing the driver to perform alternative... 2018 SELF-DRIVING SAFETY REPORT by GM

2018 SELF-DRIVING SAFETY REPORT by GM You might think it looks like any other vehicle, but the Cruise AV was built from the start to operate safely on its own, with no driver. We engineered safety into the vehicle in every single step of design, development, manufacturing, testing and validation. Our self-driving vehicle is the result of intensely focused development, and countless hours of real-world testing and validation. It doesn’t drink and drive, doesn’t text and drive, doesn’t get upset, doesn’t get tired, never gets... [Lire la suite]

Today’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are gradually evolving into full autonomous vehicle systems.

Today’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are gradually evolving into full autonomous vehicle systems. The hype and overblown expectations continue. And the auto companies along with the many OEM and technology suppliers are collectively spending billions of dollars to create the first practical self-driving (SD) cars. Good progress is being made. Analyzing this effort to create the first automated vehicles (AVs), it is clear what must happen. The challenges are mostly technical, but there are major... [Lire la suite]

No Driving Required: What Automated Vehicles Mean For Our Future

Autonomous vehicles (AV) are The Next Big Thing in the tech industry. It might sound a little like a farfetched science fiction movie, but think back to those landline locked days when phones were used merely for necessary communication. Who could have envisioned a world in which we all hold the internet in our hands? Yet in 10 years that has become our reality, and it looks as if the same will be true for driverless cars. Google, Uber, and Tesla - to name a few - are already developing and testing prototypes, and some autonomous... [Lire la suite]
