Are Driverless Cars An Auto Insurance Train Wreck?

Are Driverless Cars An Auto Insurance Train Wreck? Auto Insurers May Welcome Autonomous Cars as Accident Rates Fall Autonomous cars won’t eliminate auto-insurance premiums, even if they prove safer than human drivers, since accidents aren’t the only risk vehicles face. Auto fatalities are down 23% from 2006 to 2013, even as premiums climbed 9.8% to $186 billion and underwriting margins fell to negative 1.1% from 6.1%. Like other vehicles, autonomous cars would face perils such as storms and misuse, while complex liability... [Lire la suite]

ADAS is the driverless car’s eyes on the future

ADAS is the driverless car’s eyes on the future Autonomous may be set to change the world but ADAS has to be perfect first, as Brendan McNally reports. While the prophets of the automotive space, predict driverless cars will be the most disruptive technology ever to come down the pike, the same somehow cannot be said of automatic cruise... Flying Cars Are Close To Moving From Fiction To Reality

Flying Cars Are Close To Moving From Fiction To Reality If you told me a few years ago that in next 10 years we would have flying cars, I would have dismissed it as pure fiction. I have to say given the maturity of drone technology, advent of autonomous vehicles and giant strides we are making in AI, I believe we will see first applications of flying vehicles for recreational activities in the next five years. The flying car, which was confined to movies such as Back to the Future, and TV shows like the Jetsons, is all set to take a... [Lire la suite]

Why trucks are leading the way when it comes to autonomous technology

Why trucks are leading the way when it comes to autonomous technology Carmakers are making incredible advances when it comes to autonomous technology, but the first fully autonomous vehicles to hit the roads may actually be trucks, with the transport behemoths proving naturally suited to self-driving technology. Packaging Self-driving vehicles cram in an incredible amount of technology. There’s LiDAR, radar, a huge array of different cameras and other sensors, mapping and GPS and a computer that has to make sense of it all. If it’s... [Lire la suite]
