What will you do with the data from ADAS?

What will you do with the data from ADAS? Advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS, in heavy trucks employ active braking and other technologies to avoid or reduce the severity of crashes like rear-end or loss-of-control accidents. Now common in some form in the latest passenger cars, ADAS are also expected to be the building blocks of self-driving vehicles in the future. (Photo: Aaron Marsh/ Fleet Owner) During a broadly represented roundtable discussion this week on advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS, in heavy... [Lire la suite]

Google driverless car division invents technology for automatically detecting police cars

Google driverless car division invents technology for automatically detecting police cars   Google is creating sensors that will enable its driverless cars to automatically detect police vehicles in the area, documents have indicated. Self-driving cars will be installed with technology that can identify approaching police cars and trigger an alert so that Google's vehicles can move out of the way or pull over to be questioned. In a US patent filing, the internet... [Lire la suite]

Bosch makes emergency braking possible using just a video sensor

credit Bosch Emergency braking systems are among the most effective assistance systems in the car. In Germany alone, up to 72 percent of all rear-end collisions resulting in personal injury could be avoided if all vehicles were equipped with them. Now Bosch has developed a stereo video camera with which an emergency braking system can function based solely on camera data. Normally, this would require a radar sensor or a combination of radar and video sensors. “The Bosch stereo video camera is a single-sensor... [Lire la suite]

Honda introducing first predictive cruise control system in CR-V in Europe

Honda will introduce in Europe the first predictive cruise control system, which Honda calls Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (i-ACC), capable of foreseeing and automatically reacting to other vehicles cutting-in to the equipped vehicle’s lane. Based on extensive real-world research of typical European driving styles, Honda’s Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (i-ACC) uses a camera and radar to sense the position of other... [Lire la suite]
