THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION FOR INSURANCE COMPANIES THAT NEED ONBOARD RISK ASSESMENT : SafetyNex

NEXYAD explains clearly why the usual telematics systems CANNOT predict the risk of accident because they make WRONG HYPOTHESIS (for instance : severe braking as an indicator of bad driving). NEXYAD has been working for 15 year on risk of accident computing and explains the methodology and all the results using SafetyNex. This paper is French spoken (under translation)  Calcul du risque d’accident pris par les conducteurs. Fév 2016 (pdf) To read more : http://nexyad.net/Automotive-Transportation/?p=1838

NEXYAD showed that risk of accident is not correlated to driving style

Although ntuition let people presume that risk of accident may be correlated to driving style, NEXYAD could demonstrate that this is wrong : There are quiet but dangerous drivers, and there are brutal but safe drivers. The module SafetyNex, developed by the company NEXYAD shows how it really works, and this module is the ultimate telematics solution (connected car) for onboard road safety estimation. Available on smartphones, second market electronic devices, and first market electronic devices. Examples of mappings Safety x... [Lire la suite]

A new patent reveals how Google's self driving cars could talk to pedestrians

As Google works towards the dream of the total driverless car, one of the problems that has been cropping up is that the vehicles are, by design, very defensive drivers. This can leave them stuck at four-way intersections where a little bit of aggression is required before other cars will make space on the road. It can throw off the humans around them, who are prone to rear-ending a vehicle that stops a little too courteously. And it can result in speeding tickets for, well, driving too slow. Earlier this week Google... [Lire la suite]

REAL TIME ONBOARD RISK ESTIMATION CORRELATED WITH ROAD ACCIDENT

REAL TIME ONBOARD RISK ESTIMATION CORRELATED WITH ROAD ACCIDENT : AN ENTIRELY SOLVED PROBLEM AND A PRODUCT ALREADY AVAILABLE FOR DEPLOYMENT by NEXYAD   INTRODUCTION Measuring road safety in the context experienced by the driver is a topic of interest for several activities : . car manufacturers, who can inform the driver of potential dangers . autonomous vehicle developers who need to prove that the driving actually minimizes risk of accident. . fleet managers and insurance companies who wish to measure the risk taken by... How Google’s self-driving cars may handle the toughest situations

Left-hand turns are one of the tougher things drivers have to do. They result in far more accidents than right-hand turns, and have been called “the bane of traffic engineers.” The challenge of turning left holds for self-driving cars, too. A Google patent application that was published online last week details a system to assist its self-driving vehicles in difficult situations, such as certain left-hand turns. Google describes how its self-driving vehicles could reach out to a remote assistant to advise on situations such... [Lire la suite]

Here’s what IoT will do for transportation

Image Credit: bleakstar/Shutterstock The Internet of Things (IoT) is dramatically accelerating the pace of innovation in the transportation industry—especially the cars and trucks we drive every day. And when you apply the laws that have been driving technology innovation for decades—Moore’s Law and Metcalfe’s Law—it’s not long before our automobiles will resemble smart devices on wheels and your vehicle may very well be the most expensive computing device you own. Connected cars today Already, automobiles built after 2010 include... [Lire la suite]
