prospective : Will future automotive products still need wheels ?

Will future automotive products still need wheels ?

It is very interesting to see what is happening in the robotics research labs. Seeing this, almost everyone thinks about
military applications (that is why DARPA gives money for those researches), about industrial applications where human 
beings may be in danger (nuclear industry, ...), and also about space quest (Mars, Moon, and further).

But think, would is be interesting for individual mobility ? :
. invalid persons artificial arms and legs (medicine application)
. mobility without any need of infrastructure (road, highways ...) : if your personal vehicle can fly, walk, run, and jump ... road are
  not needed anymore ^^
